I'm Back!

Hi everyone! I'm back from my fabulous trip. Not so fabulous though, is that I'm still "recovering" from some nasty flu bug that started on Sunday. I must have picked it up in my travels. I am feeling better, so as soon as I can I'll have some fun photos of the layouts and projects I made. I also have some more goodies coming for the shop, so stay tuned! Have a great day everyone!

Bon Voyage!

Visions of Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr in "An Affair to Remember" are dancing in my head today. I'm heading off for my cruise! Now I don't really imagine it will be like those old movies where everyone is dressed to the nines and drinks pink champagne cocktails, but it is gonna be equally fabulous! Yeah! I'll be back sometime next weekend, and I'm sure I will have lots of goodies to show you. I've got every ounce of scrapbook stuff I can fit packed into my bags. (I'm a terrible packer, I always think of every what if scenario and pack accordingly. Then I have to tell myself, Renee, really you won't need sweaters and jeans in Mexico):) The shop is pretty stocked up for when I'm gone and anything purchased will ship out Monday after I'm back. Have a fabulous week everyone!

I also wanted to share a layout my pal Jami Rodolph made for the blog. She used the Spumoni Sparkled Felt Blossoms from the shop. It is such a darling layout, and her little girl just couldn't be sweeter!

I love how she used the blossoms as the centers of the large paper flowers, just too cute! This is one of my favorite color combos too, aqua, pink, and brown!

I thought I'd share some photos of a custom goodie box I just finished. It had a very shabby vintage look to it.

Pearls and tulle around the bottom too.

The entire box is covered with pearl glitter, but it's really hard to tell from the photos.

Now you can take this sketch and make it fit your own needs. You could substitute the journaling block for another picture, make it a 1 page layout, or use a photo spot for more journaling/embellishments.

Giveaway news.....

Hello! Well I've got another fun giveaway for this week! It will start later today and go through Friday again. All you have to do is leave a post to be entered, and each day you will have a new chance to win! I'll be back later with a picture of the giveaway goodie!

I've got so many goodies for the shop...so check often this week because I am doing a major restocking before my vacation on Sunday! I am soooo excited about this trip. I am going on a 4 day cruise with my friend Jami, and the best part....there is scrapbooking on the cruise! One of my favorite gals in the scrapbook world, Candace Carpenter, is going to be there teaching classes in the evenings while we sail. Yeah! So it's a new port each day, lots of fun and sunshine, then scrapbooking all night long! (oh, and all the food we can eat, whenever we want....creme brule at midnight anyone???) :) It's gonna be so much fun! I'll be sure and post lots of photos from the projects and layouts so you can all get those holiday creative juices flowing.

I have lots of fun things in the works for everyone.... Jami is going to be making some eye candy for the blog using Pink Owl products. I thought it would be fun to have some more great ideas for using all those embellishments, so stay tuned. She is super creative! I would love to see how your using your purchases to... so please send me links/photos!

I also am planning a series of craft days for the holiday season. I have several projects planned... and this will start in October after I get back. These will be fun events where you will get step by step instructions to make holiday projects or gifts. I will give you supply lists etc before hand and then post instructions as I complete the projects with you. It should be a lot of fun, and a great way to get a jump start on the holidays. I don't know about you, but I always stay caught up better when it's a "scheduled" plan. I will also put kits or finished projects in the shop if anyone would rather do it that way.

Oh, so much more I would like to tell you, but I think I've rambled on long enough now...are you even still reading this? I'll be back later with the giveaway and only a brief post, I promise! :)

Cream and White...

Hi there! I don't know about you, but things have been crazy busy lately. I've got all kinds of deadlines, projects, social functions, in addition to the daily stuff right now. Whooo, that transition to fall, and all it entails, sure keeps us hopping doesn't it? Oh, I will be gone this afternoon through Sunday...but check back Monday for a giveaway next week!

I thought I show some new goodies I'm working on because I just love the color combo! Cream and White...so pretty! I love these two together partially because they are a staple in the world of Shabby Chic and because they are so versatile. I love that you can use them with anything. When I look at the blossoms below, I can picture them on a fancy wedding layout (...when you see the word "layout", feel free to substitute "card" or "paper craft project" depending on your passion :)). Or...they would be great on a baby or heritage layout, oh, and winter project too...don't they look like snowflakes all white and shimmery! You get my point.

TIP:
If you don't use this color combo much, try it on your next project. Mat your photos in alternating layers of white and cream, make a border out of white and cream buttons, or tie white tulle and cream ribbon around a photo or title block. So many pretty possibilities!

I'm off to the Buddy Walk today. If you are not familiar with this event it was created to promote Down syndrome awareness/acceptance. My wonderful cousin and his lovely wife have a little boy (just a week or so younger than my little one) with Downs. He is the most wonderful blessing to our family! We just adore him, and my children think he's the greatest thing going. His parents have carried every challenge with such grace and love, I am amazed by them daily. Just the medical bills alone, iyiyi! Check out the website and see if there is a Buddy Walk in your area. I encourage you to go, it will touch your heart and inspire you in ways you can't imagine!

Giveaway and a Shabby Journal

Hello everyone! I'd thought I'd share some photos of a special order I'm working on. This is an altered notebook I made into a journal. Very Shabby Chic.

I used a vintage image of a perfume ad for the cover then added some sparkle to it with some pearl glitter.

Some sweet lil crepe paper trim.

I used one the the monograms from the Tres Jolie line by My Mind's Eye. I just luuuv them. I can't wait to make a holiday banner using them!

Sketch and a Giveaway!

So here is another sketch for you to use! I haven't made a layout example from it yet, but when I sketched it I was thinking fall photos. So, I say we all get out our photos, supplies, grab a cup of coffee and get scrappin! Lets get those creative juices flowing!

I know sometimes it can seem so hard to get time to be creative, but give yourself at least a few minutes today! Even if all you do is just pick out a few photos to scrap, look through an inspiring magazine, or set out some paper/embellishments you've been dying to use, you'll be glad you did! And...those few minutes everyday start to add up and become finished projects! Yeah!

I love Linens! (another chance at the giveaway)

You cannot imagine my happiness when I stumbled upon this wonderful find! I love linens, especially vintage or vintage reproductions. This adorable vintage repro tablecloth was 50% off! Yeah! Covered with pink and red cherries, it's just as sweet as sweet can be! It's going to look perfect on my antique drop leaf table I'm refinishing. (another yard sale find, thanks to a tip from my friend Jami)

Just look at the adorable little bag it came in. Gotta love the rickrack too!

I just love cherry patterns, I swear this was made just for me! :) Hmmm... that reminds me, I need to get going on those felt cherry embellishments! See inspiration is everywhere!
