Sketch and a layout

It's been a while since I posted a sketch on the blog, so I thought today was about time! Here's the sketch...

...and here's the layout I made.

Instead of circles, I cut butterflies out of the Pink Pailsee butterfly paper and stuck them over the cut edge with pop dots for dimension. (I added glitter to them as well. I also used a chipboard strip and gathered some ribbon into ruffles for the border strips. I added some chipboard and sticker word spots and some really cute tree brads I was so excited to use. It was a very fun and girly layout to do!

I'd love to see your take on the sketch, post a link here so we can all check it out! Have a great day!!!

Oh, and stop by my etsy shop, new stuff going in this week!

A mini album

I'm finally sharing that project I made for Jenn's Design Team. Things are really crazy on the home front, so I may not be "around" as much as usual, but I thought I'd take a quick minute to share this mini album.

I made the album from pieces of chipboard I cut to size and then I stitched felt to the outside covers and glued paper to the inside covers.

I used one of Jenn's adorable journaling spots on the cover.

For the inside pages of the book I chose several of Jenn's larger journaling spots and some Pink Pailsee papers. I just punched holes in the journaling spots and inserted them as pages.

Here's another close up of one of her spots, too cute!

I love the way it turned out, so bright and fun! Be sure to go and check out Jenn's blog to see the other Design Team Member's projects.

Today's Christmas Craft Idea

Handmade ornaments are so special, and if you add a cherished photo they become great keepsakes and gifts! I made this cute little ornament out of stiff felt I cut into a scalloped circle. Then I embellished it with red and green papers, glitter, chipboard shapes, buttons, and bakers twine. I added a photo of my son (tip: changing the photo to black and white or sepia will help it to stand out better on a colorful ornament.) the glittery star (a holiday floral pick from the craft store) and hung it from some red tinsel. I also ran a string of little pearls around the edge to finish it off. It was so quick and easy to make, and what a wonderful gift for grandmas, aunts, etc.

Pink Paislee is doing a 12 days of Christmas ornament idea fest on their blog. Be sure to check it out for some more inspiration! (see blog list for link)

I'd love to see some of your handmade Christmas creations. Send me a photo and I'll put you on the blog and send you a little goodie from the shop!

My Crazy Life Felt Album

Ok it's done so here are the rest of the pictures!

A Sneak Peak....

Ok, I thought I'd give you a sneak peak of some new projects I'm working on. I have so many ideas in my poor little brain, it will be amazing if I can ever get them all made! I just love the Pink Paislee "office lingo" line of papers. I have been dying to make something with them, so I'm making a mini album (made of felt) and some journaling tags for the shop, and maybe even a wall hanging for my daughter's room. So here is a sneak peak at the felt album, it should be in the shop by tonight or tomorrow. I used stiff felt as the album base so it's almost like chipboard but has great texture. You can buy it just about anywhere you can buy felt squares. I also used my sewing machine, which is always fun, to attach the paper and felt together. I think you'd have to have a pretty strong adhesive to keep it from coming unattached if you didn't sew it.

This is the front cover; I wish you could see how the glass glitter sparkles in these pictures!

Here is one of the journaling tag sets I'm working on. This one has vintage silver glass glitter.

I've been mailing out packages this week, so I thought I'd show how your goodies from the shop will be arriving. I just love a pretty wrapped package! Have a great day!
