Another Valentine Card

I've been having a lot of fun playing around with these photos, so I thought I'd share another Valentines Day card with you!



With this one, I turned the photo black and white and then "colored" my daughter's eyes and her butterfly wings. I added "I love you" and a flourish design. (for some reason this is not showing up very well on the blog...) Easy as pie,and now I just have to send it off to be printed. Yeah! I will be making some "scrapbooked" Valentines for my immediate family, but having these photo Valentines makes it so easy to send them to family and friends all over!

I have new stuff going in the shop today, so be sure to swing on over and check it out! I'll also be making some fun announcements about some new happenings this week, so stay tuned!

Good morning! I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving. My family had a great day! Well I just wanted to take a moment to tell you about a Christmas sale coming to the shop. I'm going to be loading the shop with all kinds of goodies this week. Mini albums, day planners, cards, signs, banners, recipe boxes, new embellishments, and so much more. Then I'm going have a Christmas sale in the shop (I'm not totally set on the dates yet, I'm thinking Thurs. 4th - Sun. 7th, but I'll let you know for sure) with fun giveaways, some gifts with purchase, and some holiday inspiration. It's going to be a fabulous way to get your Christmas shopping done early! So stay tuned to the blog for updates, and spread the word to all your scrappin crafty friends! :)

My sweet cousin-in-law Jessie Crowley, see blog list for August Light Photography, volunteered to come out and photograph everything for me! Yeah!! Thanks Jesse! I was wondering how I was going to fit it all in this week. If your in the Missoula area, you have to call her for you Christmas photos this year. She does an amazing job!

Photo Editing Tricks and a Shop Update

I am by no means an expert on photo editing programs, but I thought I'd share a few more easy tricks I was playing around with. These photos are from our recent visit to Greenbluff Farms.

For this photo, I used the color saturation option. I took some of the color out of the photo (if you take it all out it becomes black and white) and then I bumped up the red tone to create a kind of pinky hue to her skin. I wanted it to look warm and soft and similar in color to the berries themselves. Super easy!


I just love these baskets! I wish I could've brought them home with me! On this photo I used the saturation again to take some of the color out and then I also removed some of the brightness. This gave it a softer faded antique look that suited the worn baskets so well.


These wheat fields were so beautiful, and they went on forever! In this photo, I increased the brightness then I decreased the contrast to give it a softer look. The more you decrease the contrast the more it looks like you have laid vellum over your photo. Kind of a cool look to play around with.

On this last photo, I wanted to jump up the color and really make it look bright and fun. I wanted that berry stained face to jump off the page. I bumped up the contrast and the color saturation until it was the way I wanted it.

Just a few simple ideas that can make your photos look a little different. I have said before that I have the most basic editing program, but it's fun to play around with different looks.

More Goodie Box Pictures

I thought I'd share a few detail shots of the goodies that were in the shabby embellish met box. These are some of the, as my daughter says, "boylish" ones.

This is a fun little vintage bingo card that I made into a "frame". It's gonna be so cute with a picture of her son on it!

These are my layered button arrows. I'm going to be putting some of them in the shop soon. Arrows are so trendy right now, and I love them! I love that something so simple can add the perfect touch to a project!

These are some jumbo layered buttons. I love to use felt and chipboard, so combining them is just great! I "stitched" all three layers together with bakers twine and tied it up. I love the polka dots too. I think polka dots make everything just seem more fun, don't you?

Shabby Vintage Box of Goodies

I just thought I'd share a little of what I've been working on lately! I had a custom order for a Pink Owl Paperie "goodie basket", and this is some of what I came up with! I altered a vintage pencil box with a few layers of paint and a crackle finish and then spiffed it up with some scrapbook goodness.

I love vintage buttons and pom pom trim.

I filled the box with all kinds of handmade embellishments and a few other goodies and lined it with and vintage hankie. (I just love vintage linens! I scored a great table cloth at a yard sale the other day... 1940's my absolute favorite!)

This is a peak at the 8x8" mini album that I made to along with the order. I'm going to be making some more 8x8 albums for the shop too.


I'll show some more detail of the embellishments and page layouts in the album later! I'm off to finish those fair/carnival embellishments! Yeah!

Ok, as promised, I finally have a few of the new goodies in the shop. "Sugared" felt strawberry embellishments and yummy ice cream cone journaling spot/embellishments. More to come still.... apples, cherries, carnival and fair inspired journaling spots and embellishments, artisan labels, sparkled felt blossoms.... and more. I'm off again, more to do! Oh, and watch for another sketch this week too.

Good Morning Everyone! Happy Monday! I'm back from my weekend getaway, and happy to say some goodies are going in the shop today. A few new things too... should be in the shop by this afternoon, so I'll be back then. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Oh, and I just wanted to respond to a few posts about the photo editing. I just have a basic editing program that came with my camera. Nothing fancy. I think most programs probably have a "color saturation" adjustment you can use, and if I can do it, anyone can. I must be one of the most technologically challenged people around. I know I've said this before, but it's true. Just try playing around with your editing program, you'll be surprised how easy it is! Good luck!

Some News....

Hi everyone! Well I finished up the last of the grand opening orders, and everything has gone out. Yeah! I hope you all love your goodies! I would love to see pictures of your projects, so if you get a chance, post a link or email me!

I really loved doing the giveaways, so I am going to make them a regular thing. I think I will do them 2 times a month to begin with. I'll start with this month, so that means I'll be doing another one soon! Yeah!

I'm working on several new projects for the shop and replenishing the embellishment and kit categories. With fall and back to school coming up, I have a few fun events planned too. I'll let you know more about those later. :)

Woodland Fairytale Projects

I just luv, luv, luv this kit! I had so much fun making the embellishments, especially the journaling blocks. I am so proud of myself, because well frankly I am not computer savvy! I love that little deer with his glittery crown! Ok, so here are the first 2 projects I made with the kit. I have plans for many more, but have not gotten to them yet, so I'll start you out with these. I just cant wait to get my hands on that vintage bingo card! But for now it will have to wait. I'll add more projects as I finish them.

This is a cute 8"x8" layout I did for my misc. album. I was happy to find a way do add a little sparkle to a boy layout without being over the top!



This is a little wall hanging I made for our front hall. I cut the large scalloped chipboard circle in half and used it as the base. I plan to use the other 1/2 on a 12x12" 2 page layout.


Ok, gotta dash adding more items to the shop! I managed a temporary fix for my computer problems, at least until my husband can come set up the external hard drive "permanent solution". I know I'm pathetic, but I tell you I am not tech savvy at all! lol
