Thank you...

I made this card for one of my husband's aunts, so I thought I'd share it with you. No matter what is going on, they always remember our children's birthdays and send out gifts. It is so nice of them to think of the kids, this year I wanted to send special "thank yous" out. Sooo... handmade cards here we come! I'm still trying to keep up with my goal of making a couple of cards every week. That way when things like this come along, I have a special card already to go!
I just love those Jenni Bowlin bingo cards. You don't even have to use the whole card, just a piece of one (like I did here) adds so much. I just used my fingers to rough up and tear the edges of the paper before I inked it. I inked the white flowers as well to tone them down a bit.
I used a Sparkled Felt Blossom from my shop. Go here to get a better look. Notice there is a button missing from one of the white flowers. I had a wonderful assistant while taking these photos, my 2 year old son Connor couldn't resist that one particular button. But don't worry, I stuck it back on so now I can mail it out. :)

Making cards is also great way to jump-start your creativity, so get scrapping! I'll be adding more goodies to the shop again today. Be sure to stop in and check them out!

Sketch and a Giveaway!

So here is another sketch for you to use! I haven't made a layout example from it yet, but when I sketched it I was thinking fall photos. So, I say we all get out our photos, supplies, grab a cup of coffee and get scrappin! Lets get those creative juices flowing!

I know sometimes it can seem so hard to get time to be creative, but give yourself at least a few minutes today! Even if all you do is just pick out a few photos to scrap, look through an inspiring magazine, or set out some paper/embellishments you've been dying to use, you'll be glad you did! And...those few minutes everyday start to add up and become finished projects! Yeah!

And here's another chance to enter the Labor Day Week giveaway I'm doing with my friend Jenn from My Creative Mess. She is soooo creative! I'm so happy to be giving away some of her Bitties and Journaling Stickers. (see Monday's post 9/1 for photo) She is giving away some of my Sparkled Felt Blossoms, so you might want to jump over to her blog and enter to win there too! SO... the low down on the giveaway is this: it is running all week Monday 9/1- Friday 9/5, and you will have a chance to enter by leaving a post on the blog daily. (so up to 5 blog entries) Also, for every purchase you make from the shop your name will be entered again! Lots of ways to win! YEAH!

So for today's post, tell me what creative things you've been up to or have been wanting to do!

I'll post a picture of a layout from this sketch when I get it finished!

New Sketch and a Layout

Here is a sketch and a layout I did this weekend:
It is designed to fit 7 4x6" photos, but you could always cut them down and mat them too. Remember a sketch is just a jumping off point to get those creative juices flowing!

A few detail shots:
I used Sparkled Felt Blossoms from the shop as accents. I love to add different textures and materials to my projects. So fun!

I also used tulle a lot on this layout. I added it to the felt blossoms, title, and even mixed it with some velvet ribbon, a vintage hat pin, and tied it around this photo. You might want to pick yourself up a little roll. It comes in all kinds of colors and is great for layering behind other embellishments for extra texture and depth.

A little doodling (or scribbling as I like to call it) can add so much to a page. I made a frame around the title and a photo too.

Well my scrapbook weekend was great, at least until I got some kind of food poisoning Saturday night and had to come home. I missed the last day! What a bummer! But on the up side, my friend Jami entered one of my layout in the page contest and I won! I got a nice gift certificate to The Scrapbook Hideaway! WooHoo!

I did get a few things done for the shop before I left, so watch for them. I'll be adding them over the next day or so. New button brads, a travel album, and some new embellishments. I don't know about you, but I get really frustrated trying to find a variety of masculine/boy embellishments. So, I have started to make my own. You will see a few of those going in the shop this week too. I'm also working on a black felt album and kit, 2 new kits, some more cards and tags. Keep your eye out!

A Glittery Card Idea

Have I mentioned how much I LOVE vintage glass glitter? Well I do. My Grandma passed down a ton of it to me, and since then I’ve been using it on everything. This is a sweet little friendship card I made using the Pink Owl Paperie Pistachio Sparkled Felt Blossoms (they are covered with clear glass glitter), some vintage crochet lace, and some cute Fancy Pants papers. I also added more glitter to the corners and edges of the card, cause lets face it, I can’t get enough of the stuff. You can’t tell very well from the pictures, but it sparkles like you can’t believe! (the colored versions of the stuff contain real silver so they tarnish over time, too charming for words!) Well I’m off to work on some new projects for the shop…a cute mini album using felt, chipboard, and some super sweet shabby fabric! Oh, and probably a little glitter too! Ta ta.
