i heart photo masks!

Nothing makes digital scrapbooking easier than photo masks. They come in extra handy for times when I have too many photos of one event but can't seem to weed any out. ;) I know I have a problem.... Here are a few layouts I did using a photo mask I made to help me get the job done quickly. Here is the mask...
and here are the layouts...
Quick and easy! They work great for Project Life/Project 365 too. Photo masks allow you to drop in your photos and elements and with a few clicks crop it all down to size. Since I wont be able to explain it in a way you could understand, (I am TERRIBLE at explaing the workings of photoshop) I found you a tutorial on how to use em. Here is one you could check out, but the web it full of them! Have a great day and get some scrapbooking done! :)

Ahhh Summer...

Hey there! Long time no see huh?! We've been having a great, but busy, summer and I hope you have too! I've been trying to squeak in a little scrapbooking in between trips, projects, and lazy days by the pool. I thought I'd pop in today a share a few layouts.
Aren't they cute! I know I am a bit biased, but I can't help it. Oh, and yes I know my little guy (who is not so little now) will not be happy I scrapbooked him in a tutu. ;) On this layout I used my "Take Note" kit coming soon to my shop. Here is the one I used.
On this 2 page layout I used the "Gypsy Queen" kit from my shop.
Well thats all for today! I hope you are enjoying your summer, spending lazy days with your kiddos, being creative, and scrapbooking!

Scrapin Away

I am NOT a morning person. If I had my way, I really wouldn't get up before 10 am and wouldn't go to bed before midnight... but being a mom to 3 busy kiddos means this is not a possibility. I am always trying to turn myself into a morning person, so I've been motivating myself with some scrapbook time. I get up early have a little coffee and some quiet time then into the craft room. I get a half hour or so to scrapbook before it's time to get the kids up for school. I'm loving it! (not as much as I would love to sleep till 10 but I'm working on it!)

So here the am perks: finished layouts yeah!

I used some of my journaling cards from the Department Store set and the Take Note set (soon to be listed in my shop).

On this layout I used journaling cards from the Pretty as a Princess and the Springtime in Paris sets.

If you are a morning person, I'd love to know how you do it! ;)

Easy Bunny Pops

I have to admit I have a new addiction. Recently some friends and I got together to make some goodies to pass out to the kids at church on Easter Sunday. We made cake pops. Then my pal Jami and I got together to make a few more... then we started experimenting and well now I'm putting anything I can find on a lollipop stick and dipping it into pretty candy melts. ;) Anyway...

I saw some marshmallow bunny pops somewhere and decided to make my own version. These turned out pretty cute and were so easy to make.

What you need:
a bag of the big white marshmallows
a bag or two of pretty colored candy melts
some lollipop sticks
heart shaped sprinkles
cornstarch
powdered sugar
little treat bags
a kitchen scissors
ribbon

Then away you go! Heat up your candy melts according to the directions on package. In a small bowl stir together a little cornstarch and powdered sugar. Now to make the ears. Take a marshmallow and cut ears using the kitchen scissors. I held the marshmallow upright and made vertical cuts. Some parts of the ears will be sticky so toss them in the cornstarch mixture.

Next take another marshmallow and insert a lollipop stick. Dip the end of the marshmallow (about 1/3 of the way down) in the candy melts. Add a sprinkle nose. Let the candy coat set up for just a minute, but not all the way, then dip the ends of the ears and attach em to his head. When the candy melt has hardened, bag up your pop and tie it with a cute ribbon. That's it!

Photo Mask Freebie

Hi! Here is that photo mask freebie I mentioned a week or two ago! You can just click to enlarge, then right click save as, then collage away!

Here is a little example of a scrapbook layout I did using this mask. I wanted something that would work like the 6-up page protectors I sometimes use in paper scrapbooking.

So quick and easy! If your doing Project Life these masks really come in handy! You can also add your photos, and print out the collage to use on you paper scrapbook layouts or use it as a photo collage for your blog. I'd love to see what you come up with!!

Just a quickie post for me today, all my kiddos are sick with a nasty bug. It's been going since Saturday, so I'll have to share some of the fun from my scrapbook getaway later. Have a great day!

More Easy Wall Art

I made a few more things to hang on the wall the other day. I messed around with a few vintage images I got online, printed them out, and glued em to canvases. So quick, so cheap, so easy!

I did some sea life images for my kiddos bathroom and some spring themes for the mantle. After I glued the images to the canvases, I inked the edges to make them look a little distressed. Now they are hanging on the walls, sitting in window ledges, or on the mantle. Maybe some day I'll fork out the dough to get them printed onto canvases, but for now this worked like a charm. Bonus: if I get tired of them I just pull the images from the canvas and start over!

Have a great day!

Inexpensive Wall Decor

Happy Monday! (I really don't like Mondays that much but I thought I'd try to talk myself into some enthusiasm. ;)) I thought I'd share some easy and inexpensive artwork I made to hang above the landing at the top of my stairs. The wall was in desperate need of something besides the nails left in the wall from Christmas decorations in December. So a couple weeks ago I decided to just start tinkering around in the craft room and see what I could come up with using things I had or could make. Cheap and easy.

This is what I came up with: (please excuse the bad photos... there is just not a lot of great light in my stairway!)

I had some empty white picture frames to work with, so I made some goodies in photoshop with our names and year we were married, added a scripture, printed them out cut em up, and sewed em into a little banner. I strung the banners inside the empty frames.

Then, using some silhouette brushes I made of the kids a Christmas or two ago (I gave a link to the tutorial on this blog somewhere) I made a little piece of artwork. I printed the silhouette art out and mounted it to a canvas, added a little punched sheet music flower, a covered brad, and hung her on the wall.

I also printed a vintage bird cage image onto some old sheet music and hung it up with some lace ribbon and mini clothes pins. I had this cute little bird hook thingy that I had gotten for my birthday and it went up there too. Now I just need 1 more thing to go above the 2nd frame.... maybe something with an oval shape... hmmm... ideas anyone?

So there you have it some cheap and easy wall decor. I've been making some things for the kids bathroom and a few other places around the house so maybe I'll share some of those later.

Have a great Monday!!

Is there anybody out there?

Wheeew! It has been a long time since I posted anything on this little ole blog of mine. We finally got the Internet at our new house, and even though we aren't really in the middle of nowhere, I guess we might as well be for the amount of time it took. Anyhoo.... we are in our new house and loving it! Today I thought I'd just say hi and share some digi scrapbooking I've done. I also have plans to reopen my Etsy shop, Pink Owl Paperie, sometime in the near future. This time it will be all digital and printable scrapbook/papercraft supplies. Just think no shipping charges! ;)(more on that to come later)

I've been making some photo masks (they "trim" your photos into a collage) for quick layouts and I'll post one you can use soon. They work great for digital scrapbooking or just print them out as a photo collage. Have a great weekend!
