Cute Little Recipe Box

I have been making all kinds of goodies lately. This is a recipe box I recently made.

I am so in love with those Jenni Bowlin bingo cards! They are so versatile!

I made matching dividers for the inside too.

...and I just love these cute little retro recipe cards too!

I made a red and green recipe box too with lots of polka dots and flowers. ...and I used 2 other boxes to make card organizers and filled them with fun handmade cards. It's amazing how much fun you can have with a little brown box!

All Boy Felt Album

I thought I'd share fun mini album I've been working on. I just love all the robot and space stuff they have out for little boys now, it's so fun! I have to bind it and add the ties still, but it's almost done.

I think this stiff felt is my favorite material for making albums. I love the wonderful texture it adds and all the stitching I use to attach the papers.

If your in the Missoula, MT area, be sure to come see me on the 8th of November at the University of Montana for their holiday bazaar. It is in the UC Ballroom upstairs and I will be there with my shop
and all kinds of kits, embellishments, vintage goodies, and scrapbook fun. I hope to see you all there!

Here's the Layout

Sorry! I know I said I'd post this yesterday....but I have a really good excuse! My hubby got back early yesterday (he had been out of town for the last week and a half) so the kids and I mobbed him with attention and we took off to have some fun family time. So here it is:

This layout was so quick and easy! LOVE THAT! I cut up a measuring tape to use as an embellishment, added some vintage seam binding, bakers twine, a button, and a few photo turns. I love using "rulers" on my projects. Amazing, I even found a way to use glitter on my baby boys layout (the chipboard flourish at the bottom is covered in silver glitter). Hopefully he won't harass me too much for that later... :) hahaha, I can't help it, I'm addicted to the stuff! Have a great day!

Here's a Sketch

Happy Monday! I thought I'd start out the week with a sketch I did! It's for a 1 page layout, but if you wanted to do a 2 page spread you could just flip the sketch and use that for the second page. It could also be "shrunk" for a cute color blocked card layout.

I'll be back later today with the layout I made using this sketch. I'd love to see any ideas you use it for too! So use it as little jump start and see what wonderfully creative things you come up with!

Wonderful Wall Hangings

I have been up to my eyeballs making little wall hangings, so I thought I'd share a few of them with you! I used lots of vintage goodies on them, yeah! Be on the look out for some kits to make your own using those fabulous Jenni Bowlin bingo cards. They will be coming to the shop soon!

For this one I used a vintage children's book illustration. It would so cute in a little boys bedroom, nursery, or even a playroom!

This one is just for fun. I just love the photo, look at all that Tinseltown glam!

These crowns are just perfect for the little princess in your life! I used a vintage ballerina cupcake pick on the blue one.

A fun little "Home Sweet Home" sign to fill up some lonely wall space.

...and of course I had to make some Christmas ones too. I just love the vintage wrapping paper and wooden ornament hanging from the bottom.

I had so much fun making these! You definitely need to try making them. They are the perfect project for you instant gratification types (like me :)) because they don't take too much time and you have something beautiful to display or giveaway! If you would like a specific kit or would rather have a pre-made sign, just contact me in the shop and I'll get one together for you!

For the Birds....

I've been having fun making bird embellishments! So I thought I'd share a few with you. I made a cute set of journaling cards with vintage bird clip art images and some flourish stamps.

I also made a trio of sweet little felt birds. There wings are made from some vintage inspired fabric.

Birds are so popular and trendy right now, which I love because I love bird images. They remind me of my Gram, she just adored birds. I'll probably be making some of these for the shop soon, in case anyone is interested. :) Have a great morning everyone!

Excuses

Ok, I know I have been very lacking on my blog lately, but I have been busy getting ready for some local holiday shows. I have lots of ideas to show you, I just need to get the photos taken! I still have lots of new stuff for the shop too, so I gotta get all that listed as well. I have been a crafting machine, so as soon as I get my camera out :) I will have all kinds of goodies to share. So, for tonight I will just leave you with a preview of a fall project I'm working on. I'm using these photos to decorate a cute little oval plaque I got. I'm making it into a fun fall wall hanging to go with the fall banner I made in my class with Candice Carpenter. I will show you photos of the finished projects very soon. Your definitely gonna want to make your own, and the great thing about fall decor is that it can stay up for several months! (Which I love, cause I just adore fall!)

So here are the photos I'm using. I used my photo editing program to crop them in tight and used the saturation feature to take most the color out. I wanted them to be a little more colorful than Sepia or black and white. This way they all compliment each other well.

Oh, it's so hard to get your kids to stop making those cheesy camera faces. :) They are either total hams or want nothing to do with it. But that's ok, cause I really prefer candid photos anyway...or at least that's what I get the most of. :)

Holiday Place Cards from Journaling Cards

I wanted to show you a fun and different way to use your journaling cards. I used the Fabulous flora Glittered Journaling cards from the shop to make some fun Thanksgiving place cards. They were super easy to make.

All I did was stamp a bracket image on the card and then wrote the person's name in it. Then I added some golden tan tulle and tied it around some berries I cut from a fake fall vine.

I added a piece of chocolate brown felt, stamped a flourish onto white cardstock, and layered it onto the felt. (I think I need to go back and add some glitter to the flourish :)) Then, to make the card stand up, I glued it to a large button. I think they will look cute on my Thanksgiving table, and I can reuse them for my family every year. I hope you'll try to make some too! They could be made for any occasion or holiday. I have some cute new cupcake cards coming to the shop that would be adorable birthday place cards. Hmmmm...who do I know that's having a birthday soon....

Coconut Scrapshop Inspiration!

Ok everyone, are you ready for some serious fall eye candy? I was asked by the wonderful Jen who runs the Coconut Scrapshop to be a part of their October kit of the month. They included my Fall Fun Glittered Artisan Labels and pieces from the Autumn Splendor Embellishment kit. I had so much fun making all those goodies! I have been a little addicted to orange glitter lately, so you can imagine my delight when I got to use it on everything! I wanted to show you some of the amazing projects the Coconut Scrapshop's Design Team came up with using the kit. You HAVE to go there and check it out! The kit looks like its going to be amazing, it's not up for sale quite yet, but you get the idea from the photos. They do an amazing job picking things out, and I love all the vintage touches too!

Look at all those fabulous layers! I just love the trims and papers is this kit. Those are the felt leaves from my Autumn Splendor Kit.

She used one of the artisan labels here and added "happy" to it, great idea! I love how she used all those buttons on the card too.
These 2 projects were done by Grace from the Design Team. I just love the wall hanging. I'm such a project girl, it's right up my alley. Those little leaf cupcake pics are soooo cute too. See, I told you it was a fun kit!

This kit is loaded with buttons, YEAH! Here's another use for the artisan labels.

This is so adorable! Look at all that wonderful stitching! She used the felt leaves and the vintage image journaling blocks.

What a clever gal! She used a cookie cutter dipped in paint to make the leaf shapes on the background paper. We all have to try that one! She also used one of the vintage image blocks from my Autumn Splendor kit.
These 2 layouts and the card were done by Pamela of the Design Team. What a fabulous bunch of creations! Love them!

These papers are so rich in color, perfect inspiration for the season! I love all those detail photos of fall how fun, and the journaling around the papers, super cute. She used more of the vintage image blocks here too.
This layout was done by Cheryl of the Design Team. I can't wait to see what else she does with her kit!

Wow! Jen did a great job putting such a talented group of women on her Design Team. I look forward to seeing what they all come up with! Be sure to go check the design team (I didn't show all the ideas and I think they have more coming) and Coconut Scrapshop out. They only do a limited amount of kits, so be sure to snag one up quickly. Thanks soooo much Jen for including me! Thanks to the Design Team too for letting me post your goodies!

A Surprise is Waiting.....

Wow! I just realized I am almost at my 100th sale! I thought I would commemorate this exciting event with a little something special for that 100th customer! I'm going to giveaway a super fun sampler pack to that lucky person! It's gonna be filled with some of the yummy goodies I have in the shop and a few new ones I'm working on. I'll post a photo after I get one taken. Speaking of photos, I have been so frustrated with photographing my Pink Owl goodies lately. The wonderful natural light that summer brought streaming in through my windows is gone. I don't get enough natural light anywhere in the house to get good photos. I can go outside, if it not raining or too windy, but the Montana winter is coming.... I'm just gonna have to get creative I guess! So anyway, long story short, please forgive the not so great photos for awhile. :) Good luck to that 100th customer, whomever you may be!

I thought I share some etsy love today too. Here are a few fab things I found for fall:

Gotta luv these cupcake picks!

This little bird is just too sweet with his acorn hat!

I love banners and this fabric one really caught my eye for fall. Love the colors.

These pumpkins are so adorably shabby!

Wow! There are sooooo many amazing artists on etsy, be sure to go and check them all out!

Ideas for Journaling Spots.... Artisan Labels

Hello all! I thought that since I've been talking so much about journaling spots lately (and listing them in the shop) I'd show some creative uses for them. Here is a layout done by Jami Rodolph, such a creative gal, that uses the Robbins Egg Artisan Labels. She used them as an embellishment instead of a journaling spot. They are just so versatile! They look super cute if you cut them in half and put them on the edge of the page or a photo (like seen in the layout below) and then you get more bang for your buck too! :)

So cute! Thanks Jami! I'm making some fun Thanksgiving place cards to show you out of a new set of journaling cards I'll be listing today. I just love finding new uses for supplies! Have a great day!

I wasn't kidding....

So here is a shot of some of the journaling cards I have been determined to finally get listed. I told you I have become obsessed with creating them. (I mean I get to use all that glitter... how can a girl resist!) I am ashamed to admit this is just the tip of the iceberg too. So, be on the lookout I'm on mission to get them all in the shop as soon as possible.

Also coming soon a fall themed felt mini album, some chipboard minis, cards, and I have a stack of Sparkled Felt Blossoms waiting to be glittered too! Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

Journaling Cards Galore and World Card Making Day Celebration!

I have been designing journaling cards a lot lately. I have dozens created that I need to finish and list in the shop. I am kinda obsessed with making them. I sit down to the computer and ooops, time has flown by while I've created 5 new styles to add to the dozen I have yet to list. So, be expecting to see a lot of them popping up in my etsy shop, because I have made it a goal to get them glittered (of course:) and listed! I have a handful of different styles: holiday themes, vintage images, general, baby, retro,... and some cute ones to add to my "Sweet Shoppe" line. Oh, and most of them are glittered, though I have left a few styles without for those of you who like a little less sparkle.

Here is a sample of some Fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving themed cards.

Today is also World Card Making Day! So here is a fun little sketch you can use and join in the celebration! And...if you send me a photo of a card you make today, you don't have to use this sketch, I will send you some of my new Glittered Journaling Cards as a little treat! So get scrapping everyone! Enjoy the day!

A Challenge....

I don't know about you, but my camera goes practically everywhere with me. I am always snapping photos, jumping on chairs and tables to get the shot, and driving those around me crazy with my addiction to photography. So.... you can imagine how my lens was snapping away on my latest vacation! My favorite stop on the trip was Catalina Island off of the California coast. So beautiful! I found myself (as usual) taking a gazillion photos of the "atmosphere." I love to take pictures of places, buildings, nature... etc. because I think it's great to remember the beauty of life as well as the people in it. Now what do I do with all these seemingly random photos you ask? Well I scrapbook them of course! When we go on a trip or have and occasion that I take a lot of these kinds of photos I do a "taste of" or "pieces of" layout. That way I can remember all the wonderful things I saw that inspired me. Here is an example of a "Random Pieces of Calgary Layout" it did recently:

I labeled each photo with a number so that I can journal about each one individually since they don't necessarily "go" together. (I still need to do the journaling :)

Now here are a few photos I took on Catalina Island, I'll use these to do a "taste of" layout as well. I post it for some more ideas after I finish it.

Now I challenge you to do add some "random pieces" to your scrapbook projects! Be sure to send me a photo of your project too! Have a great day!
Oh, p.s. I have some new goodies for the shop that I've started listing, be sure to check them out! More to come throughout the weekend too!
