called Inventing Weddings featured some of my Vintage Shiny Buttons the other day. I went to check out their site and it is beautiful!! So full of pretty collections in all kinds of themes and styles. You'll have to go check it out, especially if your looking for any kind of color inspiration wedding or otherwise. Sketch Challenge

I'm sponsoring the challenge for this weeks sketch over at Design By Diana. I'm going to be donating a fun goodie pack so be sure to head on over and play along. Diana has some wonderful scrappin inspiration there too! Any of my blog readers who play along will get 10% off in my shop when you send me a link to your page. Get scrapping ladies!

I'm hoping to get some of my new goodies photographed and in the shop today. The weather has been so nice here, I find myself getting lost playing with the kiddos. My oldest starts full day kindergarten this fall, so I'm really trying to soak up every minute of this summer! What a change fall will bring to this house! I'm going to be the mom who is sitting in the school parking lot crying the whole first day of school. I know they have to grow up, but does it have to go so fast.... OK I don't really want to think about that... it will be here soon enough! :)

Have a wonderful weekend! We're headed to Green Bluff Farms for a day of strawberry picking! YUMMY!!! I can hardly wait!

Ahhhh, lovely summer!

Don't you just LOVE summer! We've been busy trying to soak up every bit of it! Planting flowers, swimming, running through sprinklers, Popsicles, camping, hiking, bbqs, family, road trips, all such wonderful summery fun! We drove up to Packer Meadows the other night and saw the most amazing fields of Camas flowers. There are so many purple blue blossoms it looks like mini lakes from the road. (I'll share some photos or layouts of it later! :)) Last night I even got in a little scrapbooking with my pal Jami. It was a much needed night of creativity! I'll share those layouts later too, but for now some beautiful "fruits" from my flower gardens. I just love peonies, don't you!?!

Be sure to stop by my Etsy shop and take advantage of the June special before the month is through! See you there! :)

Busy, busy, busy!

Oh where does the time go these days! Summer seems to be flying by already! This has been a very busy week and today is no exception! The highlight of today will be watching my daughter at her ballet recital. She performed on Wednesday night and now she gets to perform again in the best of show this evening. It was so stinking cute! I'll have to share some pictures and a few funny stories too! But for now I just have time to share a layout I made for the Creative Chaos design team.

Doesn't Miss Jenn make the most fabulous journaling spots! Have a wonderful Friday everyone! Oh, and I know the shop has been lacking this week... the new stuff is coming next week for sure!!!:)

Farm Chick Fun

Ohhhh, I've been such a bad blogger! Things have been so busy, summer is in full swing.... BUT I'm making up for it today with some great eye candy from the Farm Chicks Show! I seriously can't wait to go back next year. My pal Jami and I decided next year we definitely need more spending money, a truck and trailer, and we're going to treat ourselves to a nice hotel with a hot tub for our aching feet and backs after a long day of junkin! :) It really is an amazing show. We both felt like we wanted to move into the great booths there. Besides Jami, there aren't a lot of people our "circle of friends" that understand my madness for vintage. We laugh about it a lot because people are always raising their eyebrows at us when they see an old window frame hung on the wall or a stack of old suitcases. We didn't even get 2 steps in the door before we knew we found our kinda people at the Farm Chicks! :) hahaha! So...here we go!
Here we are sitting with all our goodies after day one of the show.

Everything was so beautiful. We just walked around oooohhhhing and ahhhhhing for the first hour or so before we finally decided we had to pick 1 place and start shopping. :)

I love old clocks! Don't they look so great sitting there all together like that!?! I am definitely going to start collecting my own little group. Just one more thing hubby will harass me about. :)

See what I mean? This was like grown up Disney Land! How could you not be happy looking at these beautiful goodies!

Oodles of yummy vintage seam binding!

Isn't she lovely? Ohhhh, how sad I am that she is not mine. I fell in love with this little cake server as soon as a saw her, but alas she could not be mine. I was running outta cash by the time I found her and she was a bit outta my price range. I hope some lucky gal is adoring her right now!

Sparkle and shimmer everywhere!

Look at all those wonderful vintage frogs! Another thing I want to collect to use as picture and scrapbook stands.

Genius idea! Use an old wire canner and canning jars for a wonderful set of vases! So pretty! My peonies are in full swing right now, pictures to come another day, wouldn't they be pretty displayed like this!?!

Look at that blue! Ohhh so pretty paired with the red and cream! I may have to do this in my kitchen! It could really use a little spruce!

I loved this booth! It was so amazing to look at! See, there is an elusive dress form! Neither one of us gals wound up with one, so we are still on the hunt!

Why yes they do! I snagged a few little goodies that would be great for scrapbooking and altering things, and since there is enough to share I'll list some in my shop for you!

So pretty! They were ladies walking around with these big wonderful "skirts" all over the show. Some gals had wonderful hats, some had adorable altered prize ribbons, others had amazing brooches they had made. We decided were going to make us something fancy for next year too! :)

This is one of my favorite purchases from the show! It's a sweet little granny cart that I bought to hold all my goodies while I shopped. (Note the adorable blue handle...) The ladies I bought it from were the best! They run the Salvage Studio and it was an amazing booth with great prices. Now that I've got Lulu home, yes I named my cart, I'm going to make an adorable liner for her and use her at the farmers market and for storing extra pillows/blankets in my family room.

Here we are just before leaving the show! If you are like us, and these pictures look like your kinda paradise you have to go to the show next year. The people are wonderful and it is just such a fun atmosphere. It's in Spokane Washington... go check the website out!

Well bless you if you made it through that long post! I told ya I'd make up for being gone! I've got more to share later, (like the AMAZING bracelet I bought from Beth Quinn at Beth Quinn Designs- another great gal!) but for now I gotta run and get breakfast started before those kiddos wake up!

Birthday Party Ideas

Hey there! Well I'm back from my fabulous Farm Chicks weekend and let me tell you it is now going to be an annual girls weekend. It was my kinda paradise. The booths were so beautiful, I could seriously have moved into a few of them! I haven't down loaded my pictures yet, but I'll be sure to share some when I do! :) SO.... anyway... today I thought I'd share some birthday ideas. I know things are so much tighter right now for everyone, so I thought I'd share some of my thrifty birthday party ideas. So get out your scrapbook supplies and here we go!

This is the birthday party I threw for my daughter Maddie last month. She loves tea parties and Strawberry Shortcake so she wanted a Strawberry Shortcake tea party. My mom made the adorable dress she's wearing and Maddie added her own favorite accessories. :) Quite the outfit isn't it!

I used a lot of balloons and curling ribbon to decorate. They are both really inexpensive and you can use the curling ribbon all year long for gifts/packages. I also found a package of Strawberry Shortcake activity pages that had a picture on one side and games on the other. They were supposed to be party favors or something, but I hung them up as decorations (see Strawberry Shortcake in the photo). Cute, easy, and a pkg. of 8 only cost around $2!

We had quite a few people coming, so I made mini cupcakes instead of regular ones. They were just perfect for a little girls tea party, and one batch of batter made a TON of cupcakes so it saved me from having to double the batch. I made my own cupcake picks to decorate them. They were really easy to make, cost next to nothing and Maddie loved them! I made little dotted circles with strawberries in the center on my computer, printed them out, and then punched them with a scallop circle punch. Then I hot glued 2 back to back with a toothpick stuck in between.

I used the same principal to make larger ones for the beautiful birthday cake my mom made for the adults. (oh yes, it tasted as wonderful as it looks!!! THANKS MOM!) For the large cake picks, I just used a larger scallop punch and layered on circles punched from stickers and patterned paper.

I made some more scallop circles for decoration. These are the same as the cake picks, only I made some with strawberries, some with 4's (she turned 4), and some with her initial M. Then I punched circles from pattern paper, layered, mixed and matched, inked the edges with red and pink inks and viola! Easy, inexpensive, adorable decorations that can be used as embellishments for your birthday scrapbook pages when the party is over! I hung some of them from the chandelier above the table, made a banner with them, and used the rest as confetti for the table.

Last I made some little goodie bags for the kids to take home. I filled the bags with candy, mini bubble bottles, some fun pencils, and glitter pens. (All great $1 finds at Target, and most things came in large pkgs for $1 that I could then split between the bags!) I used the same strawberry circles I had designed on the computer and added each child's name to the strawberry. Then I punched them out and tied them to the goodie bags with more curling ribbon.

I hope that gives you some ideas. Maddie loved her party and that is always my goal so I was thrilled. I really did not have to spend much $ to give her a nice party. It didn't take a ton of time either. Once I created the strawberry circles on the computer I just tweaked them a bit and used them to create a ton of decorations. I love that now that the party is done, I have bag of embellishments to use on Maddie's bday scrapbook pages and mini album. (I make a bday mini album for each of the kids each year so that way when they grow up I can send a "birthday box" with each of them. I thought it would be a great way to preserve how the grow and change each year, what the like, who their friends are etc. If only I wasn't so far behind...:))

Have a wonderful day! New goodies going in the shop this week so be sure to stop by and see!

I'm soooooo excited...

I'm headed out today for a little road trip with my best friend (and my only friend who doesn't look at me like I'm crazy when I tell her I want a vintage dress form for my house...) and were going junkin! WOOHOO!

Farm Chicks here we come! I'll be gone all weekend gathering up some new goodies, drinking coffee, relaxing, laughing, and just have some much needed girl time. I'll be sure to pick up some extra goodies for the shop too. I'll have lots to share when I return, so see you then! Have a great weekend!

P.S. Wish us luck, were both on the hunt for a vintage dress form that we can afford. :)

My Little Glamor Girl

Today I'm sharing a layout I made of my daughter. She is so girly! It cracks us up and we wonder where on earth she got it because I'm not that way. She's a natural little fashionista. I should have known we were in trouble when she was 2 1/2 and her favorite Christmas presents were clothes. She notices everything about clothes, jewelry, and she loves everything pink and fancy. What really cracks me up though is that she also has a rough and tumble side. (I'm very grateful for this because the 110% girly all the time could be a bit much... :)) The other day I looked out in the back yard to check on her and there she is in her fancy pink dress with fake pearls and "shiny shoes" covered head to toe in the pile of dirt she's playing in. I should've grabbed the camera! Anyway... off on a tangent there... here's the layout:

I used the "Life is Sweet Mini Journaling Cards" from my shop. Go here to check them out.
I also used pop dots to add dimension to the butterfly stickers. This is an easy fix to give your layout a little extra pizzazz.

Be sure to take advantage of the June Special in my Etsy Shop. Free shipping on all orders $25.00 or more, and for every $25.00 you spend you will receive a coupon for 15% off your next purchase! Have a great day!

Vintage Playtime Projects

I had so much fun putting this kit together. It is just loaded with fun and inspiring goodies. You know me, I love to find new purposes for "old" bits and pieces. Here are a few projects I made using the kit.
This little sign would be perfect to give to a teacher, especially since the end of the year is rapidly arriving. Wouldn't it make a cute hall pass etc? It would also be adorable in a child's room or playroom.
I cut out the picture of the little girl from one of the vintage book pages in the kit. Then I layered it with one of the ledger stickers and some buttons.
I used one of the Ticket Journaling Tags to make a little invite for my son. Whenever we go do something just the 2 of us he calls it a special date- so cute! I used one of the artisan labels, a vintage bingo marker, and bits of the papers on this quick and easy project. You could also make adorable scrapbook layouts, journals, cards... the possibilities are really endless.

There are only a limited number of these kits, once they are gone they're gone. So be sure and stop by the shop and check it out!

I'm so flattered...

so excited, grinning and blushing cause my Etsy shop Pink Owl Paperie is being featured in the June/July issue of Ready Set Create Magazine.

(ok, pathetic techie that I am, I had a little trouble with the logo/blinkie thingy. For some reason it kept adding about 10 for every 1 I entered. ...I think I finally got it though...)
Anyway, head on over and check it out. It's a really diverse magazine, offering a little something for everyone. Thank you so much for including me in you issue! I love what you did with my products!

If you've found your way here from the magazine, I'll give you a 10% discount in my shop! Just put "I'm a Ready Set Create fan" in the notes to seller at check out and I'll refund you the difference. Thanks!

Have a great day everyone! I'll be adding a few more new goodies this week. I'm hoping to get my new Tulle Posies in the shop this week too, so be sure to stop by and see what's new!

I'm still here...

I have just been living in my flower beds, wrapping up preschool (sigh, my oldest starts kindergarten next year) and soccer, throwing birthday parties, and the rest of the usual transition to summer stuff! :) I just love this crazy, fun, beautiful time of year! We are really trying to get all our landscape projects done before mid June so we can have the rest of the summer to enjoy them. I love gardening, and it is so rewarding to see it all coming together. Oh, and my peonies are about to bloom. They are HUGE this year and one of my very favorite flowers. If only they bloomed all summer long... but I did find a rose variety whose blooms look very similar, so I'm on the look out for some new bushes. Busy busy! Ok enough babbling... I have managed to do a bit of scrapping here and there, so I thought I'd share a layout with you today.
I did this one for the Creative Chaos design team. I used Jenn's fabulous journaling spots. They are so fun to use! I also threw in some sequins and cut some scallop circles in half and added buttons to make a fun border.

I've got a new special coming for the shop this month...stay tuned for details. Go here to see my shop! Well, I'm off to the garden! Have a great day!
