Cute and Functional Organization

I just love the idea of re-purposing old things to make them new again. I saw this photo and just thought it was so fun using vintage jelly jars to organize your embellishments. It's very functional and looks super cute on your shelf!

If you think about it, I'm sure you have some great "containers" lying around your house or in your cupboards. Dig out those chipped teacups, canning jars, candy dishes, etc and put them to use! I have my grandma's vintage canning jars filled with buttons and sitting on my shelf. They just make me smile when I see them sitting there. An old candy dish of hers holds extra embellishments, bits of ribbon, and other fun odds and ends. Yard sales are great for finding unique storage treasures too. Just keep your eye out for the unexpected and be sure and hit a few sales before the summer is over!

I'd love to hear about your creative storage solutions for your crafts etc. So leave a post and inspire us!

More Freebie Sneak Peaks!

Hello everyone! I just wanted to remind you if you purchased/purchase something from the shop between July 24 and July 30th you will be entered into a drawing for a give-a-way. (hint hint, it's going to be one of the new embellishments I'm currently working on)

I also thought I'd give another sneak peak of another one of the goodies I'll be giving away during the sale next week. Remember the sale dates are Thurs. July 31- Sunday August 3rd. Oh, and be sure and make a layout from one of the sketches on the blog to be entered in one of the give-a-ways. Have a great day!
Sorry the photos are so crazy it was just to bright out with all that white!

P.S. I added a new kit to the shop today, the Pretty Paisley Felt Album Kit, and I just wanted to let you know I am working on making one right now. So... those of you who would rather buy the completed album rather than making one yourself, it should be listed in the shop in the next day or two. Thanks!

More Updates....

Ok, I have the official sale dates: Thurs. July 31st - Sun. August 3rd. I'll be showing previews of the give-a-ways and gift with purchases etc. between now and then. I am going to be doing a give-a-way for anyone who wants to make a layout using one of the sketches I've listed on the blog. I just wanted to let you know so you had plenty of time! A winner will be randomly selected, and then I'll post the layout on the blog. So get scrappin!

Since it's about 1 week before the sale, anyone who purchases something from the shop between now and then will be entered into a prize drawing. On the first day of the sale I randomly draw a winner. Ok, more details to be revealed later as the week progresses. I've got lots of projects I'm working on so you'll be seeing new stuff in the shop all week.

Oh, and here's a preview of one of the goodies I'll be giving away. (not sure for what yet...)

Have a great day!

Some Updates

Hello everyone! I wanted to take a few minutes to update everyone on the big "grand opening" sale I keep talking about. I will know the dates for sure by Thursday, but I'm thinking it will be July 31st through August 3rd. I'm going to be giving away some "big" gifts with purchase (I'll get into more details about this in the next week), a couple of blog give-a-ways, and putting some items in the shop on sale. I'm going to be showing pictures of the gifts with purchase and the give-a-ways over the next week. I'm pretty sure one of the blog give-a-ways will include giving me a link to a layout made from one of the blog sketches. The other will be an easy "leave a comment after this blog entry" type give-a-way. The prizes will be fab, and your participation will make it so much fun! I have several projects I want to get in the shop before the big event, so I'll be busy, busy, busy, especially since I have special orders I'm working on too. Yeah! I love all this fun scrappy stuff! Ok, well that's all for now...have a fabulous morning!

Couldn't leave ya with out a little something to look at! I just love buttons, especially vintage ones. Look at these all sorted by color, just brimming with yummy goodness! Just makes me smile!

Remember When Travel Album and Journal Photos

This is the travel album/journal I promised. I'm posting lots of detail shots and extra pictures so you can really see it.

This little pocket would be great for holding memorabilia or travel notes.

Each layout is 8"x8" and mounted on chipboard.

I created spaces for journaling on the back of each layout. You could also add extra pictures here.If any one wants extra layouts to add to the album just contact the shop about a special order. I'd be happy do some more or even personalize it a bit with a travel destination.

New "Polka Dotz"

Here is a layout I used some of the new Polka Dotz on. They are great for masculine projects!

Some detail shots:

More "boyish" embellishments to come later this week!

New Sketch and a Layout

Here is a sketch and a layout I did this weekend:
It is designed to fit 7 4x6" photos, but you could always cut them down and mat them too. Remember a sketch is just a jumping off point to get those creative juices flowing!

A few detail shots:
I used Sparkled Felt Blossoms from the shop as accents. I love to add different textures and materials to my projects. So fun!

I also used tulle a lot on this layout. I added it to the felt blossoms, title, and even mixed it with some velvet ribbon, a vintage hat pin, and tied it around this photo. You might want to pick yourself up a little roll. It comes in all kinds of colors and is great for layering behind other embellishments for extra texture and depth.

A little doodling (or scribbling as I like to call it) can add so much to a page. I made a frame around the title and a photo too.

Well my scrapbook weekend was great, at least until I got some kind of food poisoning Saturday night and had to come home. I missed the last day! What a bummer! But on the up side, my friend Jami entered one of my layout in the page contest and I won! I got a nice gift certificate to The Scrapbook Hideaway! WooHoo!

I did get a few things done for the shop before I left, so watch for them. I'll be adding them over the next day or so. New button brads, a travel album, and some new embellishments. I don't know about you, but I get really frustrated trying to find a variety of masculine/boy embellishments. So, I have started to make my own. You will see a few of those going in the shop this week too. I'm also working on a black felt album and kit, 2 new kits, some more cards and tags. Keep your eye out!

Weekend Plans and Exciting News

I will be gone from Friday July 18th - Sunday July 20th. One of my local scrapbook stores is hosting a weekend getaway and my friend Jami and I are going. WOOHOO!

WOOHOO... one more exciting tidbit I wanted to share, today I took my first official order from a new scrapbook store that wants to carry my embellishments! Hooray! Thanks Hege!

Have a great weekend everyone! See you on Monday!

Sneak Peak!

Ok, here is the preview I promised:

This is a cute little card I'm putting in the shop today, but that's not what I wanted to show you. See the cute bracket label behind the "hello"? I just love these and they are so popular in scrapbooking right now. I'm working on several yummy projects using them for the shop. Some journaling blocks, titles, maybe some tags, then add in some glitter, felt, some buttons, flowers.... ok lots of fun stuff.
So watch for them in the shop next week. I'll probably put some basic ones in there so you can fancy 'em up yourselves too! Ta Ta!

I definitely need to take the time to make my space beautiful and, if you haven't already, you should too! Now where did I put that Robin's Egg Blue paint sample?... Sweet Baby Jill Projects!

I had a lot of fun with the Sweet Baby Jill Kit! Here are some projects I made using it:

Here is a 2 page layout I made using the Sweet Baby Jill goodies.
I took the shabby patchwork paper and cut it into squares and used it on this layout. I also added stitching, stamps, and paint.

Here is a detail shot of the "Layered Felt Blossoms" used in the kit.

This is one of my "Covered Button Brads." I used 2 on this layout, they are not included in the kit, but you can purchase them in the shop as an add on.
I wanted to give an example of how you could use them.

I made a shabby little card, perfect for a little girl.

A detail shot:

Here is a cute mini phone book I made. Perfect for your purse!
I sewed the 2 tags together to make the book. I also used the patchwork paper squares again!
The inside pages:

A shot of the back.

Lots of fun stuff and I have a lot more to work with! The kit will be in the shop this afternoon.
